Water Water Everywhere!!
How important is it that we drink enough water throughout our day? Does it really matter? What happens if we don’t drink enough? I mean how serious could it be???
These might be some of the questions you’re asking yourself – and if you’re like me you don’t necessarily like the answers, BUT water is REALLY REALLY important to the functioning of your body and your cells. Something so simple as drinking enough water can solve a lot of problems that you might be having.
Water is involved in all your bodily functions and cell functions. Drinking enough water daily can help prevent kidney stones, urinary tract infections, headaches, fatigue. It helps your skin look good, lubricates your joints, energizes your muscles, and helps maintain normal bowel functions. We could go on and on about the benefits of drinking enough water. It’s a pretty important thing to make sure you’re doing.
If you find yourself thirsty, then you’re already dehydrated. If you think you’re hungry all the time, then you could also just need some water.
Tips for getting more water:
1. Eat fruits that are high in water – watermelon and other high water fruits like citrus 🙂
2. Set an alarm in your phone to remind you that it’s time to drink up – a water alarm!
3. Drink some warm lemon water every morning. This will help alkalinize your body and hydrate from the night.
5. Drink a green tea in the afternoon – this will give you hydration and the great anti-oxidant benefit.
6. Have soups or vegetable juices – NOT fruit juices as those have really high concentrated sugar content.
7. Add fruit, vegetables and herbs to your water to flavor it! You’ll be amazed at how much better it is!
8. Get a GREAT water bottle that you love – Glass is the preferred choice –
Here’s MY favorite water bottle – let the fun begin!!!
How to make flavored waters:
Pick a fruit of several fruits that you like and add them to a pitcher of water – place in fridge for several hours or over night.
I like pineapple and watermelon, pineapple and strawberries, pineapple with about 2-5 leaves of fresh mint. Mash the fruit to get more flavor out of them.
You can make tomato basil water, cucumber mint. Whatever sounds good to you.
Note*** If you add citrus, you’ll want to remove the citrus after 4 or so hours as the peel can make it taste bitter.
