Salsa RecipeI got this awesome Salsa Recipe from my son Chris who made it for our New Years Eve Party. How cool is that when your kids show up to your parties and bring a delicious homemade dish! A clean eating dish too!

I know that there is many a salsa recipe that calls for all raw ingredients, so this is a little bit different, but I think you’ll like it. It’s got a great sweet flavor to it which I liked for a change of pace.

You can add jalapeños if you’d like to spice it up or leave them out. He left them out for us as we can’t do the hot and spicy.

Salsa Recipe Ingredients:

1/3 of a Red Pepper

1/3 of a Yellow Pepper

1/3 of an Orange Pepper

* 1 pepper total of any combinations of colors (non-spicy)

1/2 Sweet Onion

1/2 of a Garlic Clove

3 pinches of Oregano

Dash of Olive Oil

1 8-ounce can of organic tomato sauce


1) Dice up the peppers, onion, and garlic into small cubes (roughly the same size for pepper and onion. garlic pieces can be smaller)

2) Heat up Olive Oil in pan add garlic pepper and onion to the pan and saute on medium-low heat until cooked.

3) Also add the Oregano at this time.

4) Once the pepper, onion and garlic have cooked to the desired level(you want them to be soft), stir in the can of tomato sauce.

5) Heat for 5-10 minutes on low heat

6) Depending on your preference:

  1.    a) Remove from heat and serve warm.
  2.    b) Remove from heat, let salsa chill to room temperature, and then refrigerate before serving.

We like to eat our salsa with organic blue corn tortilla chips that you can find at Target – they also have ones with flaxseeds in them.
